No, while building everything together is more efficient and allows for a more cohesive design, outdoor living elements can absolutely be added later. Many clients phase their project over time, building the pool first and adding a pergola, kitchen, or fire feature in a subsequent phase. The conversation and design process is the same either way.

Can you work on an outdoor space where you didn't build the pool?

Yes, we work on outdoor living projects alongside existing pools regardless of who built them. If you have a pool already and want to invest in the surrounding space, we’re happy to come out, assess the site, and design an outdoor living environment that works with what’s already there.

What is the process for an outdoor living project?

It follows the same six-step process as our pool builds — consultation, 3D design, Value Engineering meeting, permitting where required, construction, and handoff with warranty. Outdoor living elements that don’t require permits (like many pergolas and landscaping projects) move more quickly through the process, but the same design rigour and construction standards apply regardless of scope.

Do outdoor living projects require permits?

It depends on the scope. Structural elements like pergolas, outdoor kitchens with gas connections, and electrical installations typically require permits. Landscaping, decking, and some smaller features may not. Requirements vary by county and municipality across Middle Tennessee, we navigate all of this on your behalf as part of the project.
