No Limits on
What We Can Build

Gunite is the most flexible, most durable pool construction method available. If you have a vision, a shape, a feature or an experience, a custom gunite pool is how you make it permanent.
What Is Gunite?

Concrete, Steel, and Decades of Durability

Gunite is a construction method where a dry mix of cement and sand is combined with water at the nozzle and pneumatically sprayed over a framework of steel rebar. The result is a dense, monolithic shell that conforms to any shape — with strength that vinyl and fiberglass simply can’t match.

Unlike pre-manufactured pool types, a gunite pool is built entirely on your property, around your specific site conditions. There are no size restrictions, no shape limitations, and no compromise on what you want the final result to look like.

At Dream Acres, we apply gunite in-house — meaning the same team that designs your pool builds it. No hand-offs, no gaps, no “that was the other contractor’s job.”

Why Choose Gunite Pools

The Case for Building in Concrete and Steel

Gunite costs more upfront than other pool types — and there’s a reason for that. You’re building a permanent structure that will outlast almost anything else on your property.
Z

Total Design Freedom

Any shape. Any depth. Any feature. A gunite pool is designed around your vision — not limited to pre-manufactured molds or standard dimensions. If you can sketch it, we can build it.
Z

Built to Last Decades

Reinforced concrete and steel doesn’t flex, crack under pressure, or degrade the way other materials can. A well-built gunite pool — properly maintained — will outlast the house it sits behind.
Z

Handles Any Property

Irregular lots, sloped terrain, tight access — gunite is built in place, which means it adapts to your site rather than requiring your site to adapt to it.
Z

Finish Options Are Limitless

Plaster, pebble, quartz aggregate, glass tile — the interior finish of a gunite pool is entirely your choice, with a range of textures, colors, and aesthetics to suit any design direction.
Z

Strong Resale Value

A custom gunite pool is a recognised premium feature in the real estate market. Buyers understand the difference between a built-in-place pool and a dropped-in shell — and it shows in valuations.
Z

Renovation and Expansion Ready

Because it’s concrete, a gunite pool can be replastered, resurfaced, and even structurally modified years down the road. Your pool can evolve as your needs and tastes change.

How long does it take to build a gunite pool?

Most gunite pools take between 3 and 6 months from breaking ground to your Pool School handoff. The timeline depends on the complexity of your design, the features involved, and permitting. We walk through an estimated timeline during your consultation so there are no surprises.

Is gunite more expensive than fiberglass?

Yes — gunite pools generally have a higher upfront cost than fiberglass. You’re paying for a fully custom, built-in-place structure with unlimited design options. For homeowners who want a specific shape, premium features, or a pool that fits an unusual lot, gunite is often the only real option. The long-term durability and resale value also factor into the overall picture.

What maintenance does a gunite pool require?

Gunite pools require regular water chemistry balancing, routine cleaning, and occasional resurfacing — typically every 10 to 15 years depending on the finish type. We provide a full maintenance guide at Pool School handoff, and our team is available to answer questions long after your project is complete.

Can you build a gunite pool on a sloped or irregular lot?

Yes — this is one of the genuine advantages of gunite over other pool types. Because the shell is built in place rather than delivered as a pre-formed unit, it can be designed around your specific terrain. Retaining walls, raised bond beams, and custom site work can all be incorporated into the design.

Do you handle the permits?

Yes. Permitting is part of our process — we handle it so you don’t have to navigate it yourself. Requirements vary by county and municipality across Middle Tennessee, and we have experience navigating them across our service area.

What is the Value Engineering meeting?

The Value Engineering meeting is a free, in-office session where we review your 3D design together on a large screen and make real-time adjustments to align your vision with your budget. It’s not a sales meeting — it’s a working session designed to give you full clarity before anything is signed. We strongly recommend it for any gunite build because the design complexity makes it worth having that conversation in person.

Can a gunite pool be resurfaced or renovated later?

Absolutely. One of the advantages of concrete construction is that it can be refinished, replastered, retiled, and in some cases structurally modified years after the original build. Your pool can evolve with your tastes and needs rather than being locked into its original design forever.
