Gunite pools allow for a wide range of interior finishes, tile selections, coping styles, and water features. From modern geometric designs to naturalistic environments, the aesthetic range is expansive.

Waterfalls and Grottos

Most popular with freeform and lagoon-style pools, waterfalls can be constructed of a variety of stone and stone-look materials and in any size and scale. An especially popular trend is a larger-scale waterfall that creates a hidden, swim-in grotto, equally perfect for an exciting childhood adventure or a romantic stolen kiss!

Bubblers

Bubblers are fun water features that spout up from shallow pool surfaces like steps and beach entries. When combined with the right aesthetic lighting, they can create striking centerpieces to a variety of swimming pool styles. When placed on a beach entry or tanning deck, they create a fun splash pad for small children and big kids alike

Deck Jets & Laminars

Deck Jets use air to shoot streams of water from the deck into the pool. Laminars arc across the swimming pool for an elegant and fun addition to your swimming pool. Sheer Descents

Sheer descents are water features that gently pour into the pool from pool or spa walls and come in configurations as various as a “sheet of glass” effect to sheets of rain-like droplets. Elevated Spas

How long does it take to build a gunite pool?

Most gunite pools take between 3 and 6 months from breaking ground to your Pool School handoff. The timeline depends on the complexity of your design, the features involved, and permitting. We walk through an estimated timeline during your consultation so there are no surprises.

Is gunite more expensive than fiberglass?

Yes — gunite pools generally have a higher upfront cost than fiberglass. You’re paying for a fully custom, built-in-place structure with unlimited design options. For homeowners who want a specific shape, premium features, or a pool that fits an unusual lot, gunite is often the only real option. The long-term durability and resale value also factor into the overall picture.

What maintenance does a gunite pool require?

Gunite pools require regular water chemistry balancing, routine cleaning, and occasional resurfacing — typically every 10 to 15 years depending on the finish type. Can you build a gunite pool on a sloped or irregular lot?

Yes — this is one of the genuine advantages of gunite over other pool types. Because the shell is built in place rather than delivered as a pre-formed unit, it can be designed around your specific terrain. Retaining walls, raised bond beams, and custom site work can all be incorporated into the design.

Do you handle the permits?

Yes. Permitting is part of our process — we handle it so you don’t have to navigate it yourself. Requirements vary by county and municipality across Middle Tennessee, and we have experience navigating them across our service area.

What is the Value Engineering meeting?

The Value Engineering meeting is a free, in-office session where we review your 3D design together on a large screen and make real-time adjustments to align your vision with your budget. It’s not a sales meeting — it’s a working session designed to give you full clarity before anything is signed. We strongly recommend it for any gunite build because the design complexity makes it worth having that conversation in person.

Can a gunite pool be resurfaced or renovated later?

Absolutely. One of the advantages of concrete construction is that it can be refinished, replastered, retiled, and in some cases structurally modified years after the original build. Your pool can evolve with your tastes and needs rather than being locked into its original design forever.
